Postcode Calculator includes the following functions:
Find all postcodes within a circle of a specified radius about a chosen postcode in UK. You enter a chosen postcode representing the centre of a circle and specify a radius in miles or kilometres. The batch software returns all of the postcodes which fall within the circle in the left-hand column and straight-line distance in miles in the right-hand column of a spreadsheet on screen. Choice of straight-line or distances by road in PostcodeCalcualtor 2 Pro.
Find the straight-line distance between an outlet and contacts address postcodes. Click on "Single Outlet, Single Contact" on menu, enter the postcodes of the Outlet and Contact, select miles or kilometres and click on "Add to List" and "Calculate". The spreadsheet table on screen is populated with start and end postcodes and straight-line distance in miles. Can read data from and save data to a spreadsheet file.
Finds straight-line distances from multiple contacts in a file and an outlet either using a circle of a chosen radius about the outlet or without using a circle. Returns results to the spreadsheet on screen which can be saved to disk.
Measure straight-line distances from multiple contacts within a chosen radius of an outlet at the centre of circle. It allows you to open a file of contacts postcodes and outlets. Returns the straight line distances to spreadsheet on screen which can be saved to file or copied to spreadsheet. Your can choose to import a file of contact postcodes. The results will show straight-line distances from outlet to contact postcode in miles. You can choose to measure distances by road rather than straight-line distances. This is usually gives more accurate and precise distances.
Postcode Calculator 2 software has a graphical user interface with columns for input of data and output of results. The input and output can be in Microsoft Excel format or ASCII text comma separated value format. Input and output can be cut and pasted into and from the graphical user interface. Postcode Calculator 2 software reads data in Microsoft Excel or Access format from a file and can save data to these formats. This makes it relatively easy to use. Postcode Calculator 2 software runs on computers with Microsoft Windows XP, Vista or 7 environments.
Postcode Calculator 2 and 2 Pro software
There are two version of the Postcode Calculator software. Postcode Calculator 2 software, referred to as the standard version, contains postcode unit data of Great Britain. It has functions for measuring the straight-line distance between two postcodes. It runs in batch mode for computing distances from an outlet to all of its customers address postcodes. It is used for estimating freight charges for home delivery. Postcode Calculator 2 enables you to capture all contacts such as customers, students or patients who reside within a chosen radial distance in miles or kilometres of an outlet. If you select with a radial distance of 10 miles, and then one of 3 miles, you can derive all contacts who reside within an annulus about an outlet from 3 to 10 miles.
Postcode Calculator 2 Pro software contains all of the functions in the standard version but includes functions for measuring driving distances between two postcodes and estimating off-peak, driving times by road between two postcodes in Great Britain. You can choose to have the fastest or shortest route. The Pro version contains digital map data of the road network of Great Britain. It can compute thousands of driving distances and estimate driving times in batch mode. The output is placed in two additional columns of the spreadsheet on screen and can be saved as an Excel or ASCII text comma separated value file.
PostcodeCalculator 2 and PostcodeCalculator 2 Pro software are being used in diverse types of businesses and other organisations for ascertaining driving distances, driving times and estimating operational and capital costs for journeys. The software is relatively easy to use, gives consistent and reliable results and can process very large sets of data. It is especially useful for answering common questions: "What is the distance from...?", "What is the distance between ...?", "How far is it?", "What is the mileage?", "How long will it take?" or "What is the estimated off-peak, driving time?"
