New AptMap suite of modules for mapping, spatial analysis and spatial interaction modelling.
14/07/2010
Graticule announces its new AptMap software, a comprehensive suite of applications for viewing digital colour maps and plans.
Design, implementation and testing of the new AptMap applications use state-of-the-art methods of software engineering and efficient algorithms to produce scalable, multi-platform, high performance application. The three core aims of the AptMap project are: (i) to give clients access and allow them to make effective use of the growing volumes and diverse types of spatial, statistical and other data for analysis and interpretation of their business activities and those of their competitors; (ii) to allow clients to use data available free of charge under the new Open Data policy of the Government in the UK; and (iii) to facilitate inter-operability and exchange of data between software applications running on different computer platforms in diverse organisations and businesses.

Aptmap software has the capability to include topographic, thematic and statistical maps, digital terrain models, aerial photographs, satellite imagery and network and route finding maps. The AptMap mapping applications include functions for viewing feature and raster maps, scrolling, changing scales, querying locations, querying objects and adding your own data using semi-transparent map overlays for points, lines, polygons and annotations.

AptMap applications are intuitive, easy to learn and use yet give users to access to powerful functions for solving a range of problems and deriving value for business and research. AptMap applications run on multiple computer platforms including computers running 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft Windows XP, Vista and 7 environments, Linux and selected mobile devices.

The suite of AptMap applications will includes:
  • AptMap Mapping and Planning
  • AptMap Postcode Mapping UK
  • AptMap Census Mapping, Spatial Interaction and Population Forecasting
  • AptMap Network RouteFinda, RoadDistanceFinda and Off-Peak DriveTimeFinda
  • AptMap Leaflet Home Delivery Manager
  • AptMap Spatial Interaction Modelling for Retail Analysis and Planning
  • AptMap Biosphere Auditing and Modelling of Carbon Exchanges
  • AptMap Terrain Analysis and Mapping

The initial applications in the AptMap suite will be available in August 2010. The others will become available over the next six months.
Custom Mapping Solution for measuring blight caused by proposed high-speed rail link
14/06/10
Graticule have provided a custom mapping solution to aide the study of residential blight caused by the proposed high-speed rail corridor through the Chiltern Hills area.
Graticule have provided a custom mapping solution for The Chiltern Society, an environmental group whose aim it is to preserve the natural beauty of The Chilterns. Graticule's mapping solution aides the study of residential blight caused by the proposed high speed rail corridor through the Chiltern Hills area, near Aylesbury, Chalfonts and Amersham. The custom mapping solution assists in locating houses and other buildings which are affected by residential blight. Users can highlight "hot-spots" where there are clusters of properties affected by blight, these "hot-spots" are plotted onto a 1:10,000 scale high-quaility digital coloured map as dotted icons. If you require any more information on how Graticule's custom software development services can help your organisation, please call 0113 234 4000 or send an email to sales@graticule.com.

Point2StreetAddress
22/02/2010
Graticule release its new Point2StreetAddress application for tracking vehicles and other assets which are fitted with a satellite GPS reciever and can store locations and times or communicate them to a server.

The Point2StreetAddress application reads a Longitude and Latitude coordinates in the WGS84 spheroid from a GPS receiver and returns the postal address of the street nearest to where an asset is located at a given time. By using the time of each GPS fix, the application can track asset movements 24/7.

Using innovative software engineering technologies, the Point2StreetAddress application lets you locate, monitor and track assets in the UK by sending the GPS data and time by a telecommunications link to a server. The Point2StreetAddress application uses the Royal Mail Postcode Address File (PAF) data.

The Point2StreetAddress application stores a record with an asset identification number, time, location and the address of the nearest street. It lets you compress and store records by a unique asset number to provide a log of where an asset has been at any given time.

For example, imagine a GPS receiver is programmed to capture locations and time every minute. If an asset has been stolen, you can reprise the log file for selected dates and times to track where it has been moved by reading addresses and times of where it has been such as street names, suburbs, towns, counties, countries and postcodes. This information can be facilitate investigations by the police or other agency.

The Point2StreetAddress software can be optimised to process over 120,000 requests per minute depending on the computer platform being used.

The Point2StreetAddress software is comprised of a series of libraries which can be customised as a stand-alone application or to link into business systems. It can locate, monitor and track valuable assets such as vehicles, equipment, boats or farm animals on a continual basis. It can even locate people!

Point2StreetAddress software is for different types of business such as insurance, agriculture, vehicle leasing, equipment leasing, valuable goods in transit and security.
