It also allows developers to integrate mapping functionality into existing applications to provide value-added features. MapServer 6 Turbo contains over 200 functions for input, manipulation, editing, analysis and output of maps. This range of features means that the toolkits provide flexible, extensible and highly cost-effective libraries. They make efficient use of the available random access memory (RAM). Making effective use of RAM leads to significant improvements in performance of common functions such as pan, zoom, query, editing and printing of maps. This facilitates what amounts to almost real-time mapping in certain applications.
